Music in video: Fairy Dance Jig from Compass
This weekend was our first time playing at the brand new Appaloosa Festival in Front Royal, Virginia. What a great festival! Put together by one of the very best bands on the Celtic touring circuit, Scythian, this is their hometown festival which includes roots music of all sorts - Celtic, Irish, Bluegrass, Americana, Folk, Country and much more! We were one of 40 bands playing all weekend long. We met Scythian several years ago at the Celtic Fling and were thrilled when they asked us down to play at their beautiful, family-friendly festival. Here are some highlights from the festivities!

Our friend Ben-David Warner jumped up onstage with us for a few songs - it was fun! Ben-David used to play with Scythian and now is doing his own thing in Charlottesville. Check out his music here.
The festival was held at a campground in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley and had lots of fun activities as well as the music - including horse riding, mini golf, playgrounds, and a petting zoo. The petting zoo was right next to the backstage area for the main stage, so Solana got to share her breakfast with a curious neighbor.
Marie Miller, country singer-songwriter from Nashville (listen to her music here), organized an all-girl band on Saturday. It was beautiful to get to play with so many talented women onstage in a set full of songs ranging from Loreena McKennett to Cyndi Lauper.

Thanks to everyone who drove out to see us and experience this festival and celebrate your Labor Day Weekend with us. Appaloosa was a great place to discover new music and we really enjoyed being a part of it!
E.T.A: thanks to Blue Mantle Media for compiling this fantastic video of the festivities at Appaloosa and for using our tune, "the Three Coins" as the soundtrack to the video! They really managed to capture the mood of the festival in this video. Enjoy, and hope to see all of you at Appaloosa next year!
