Strings and Orchestras

We love getting to play with orchestras and string orchestras since a lot of our early music background was in classical music and all three of us remember our days in youth symphonies and chamber music groups very fondly.  It's also a beautiful form of instrumentation.  So every time we get a chance to play with a group like this, magic happens!

In December as part of the Christmas tour the band visited Central Washington University to give a workshop and ended up playing Christmas Flower from Falling Snow with the strings department and friends at the concert that night.  The arrangement was done by Sean Brown, and it is quite lovely.  Here it is for you to enjoy:

When we arrived at the school we were greeted by a welcoming committee of experienced Suzuki students led by Barb Riley, who have spent the year learning one of our songs from Story Girl, Willow's Waltz.  They played the piece through for us and we were so pleased with all the work the students put in learning how to play it!  Even though it sounds easy, Willow's Waltz is deceptively simple and has lots of tricky parts in it and they did a wonderful job.  Enjoy a few clips of it below:
